  • masthead hiring is now open!

    masthead hiring is now open!

    hi garglings!

thank you all for your contributions to the gargoyle this past year, it was one of the most packed garg volumes yet! athena and miran are now the gargoyle eics (congrats!!), but before gabi and i bid you farewell, we are in charge of organizing the masthead hiring for volume 71.

editorial applications (section editors, copy editors, etc) are open on our website here. we have three new editorial positions: production editors, communication editor, and lead copy editor(s). make sure you read the entire role description before applying to those ones!

admin applications (assistant editor-in-chief, production manager, and treasurer) are open on our website here.

you can absolutely apply to editorial and admin positions at the same time, although we are heavily recommending no one takes on more than one role. application links are also on the drop-down menu of our website under “join us.”

applications will be open until the end of day on thursday, may 15th. you’ll hear back from us by sunday, may 18th with interview requests. the interviews will just be a chat on discord with the outgoing masthead and the eic team, so don’t stress too much about it.

whether you are a casual reader or year-long contributor, we encourage you to apply if you’re looking for a chance to be more involved in the operations of the garg! feel free to reply to this email or message us on discord/instagram if you have any questions.

we’re looking forward to reading your applications!

    xo
    ella mac & gabriel yuan

    editors-in-chief 24-25

  • eic elections

    eic elections

    hello hello gargarians Ψ(`∀ ´#)ノ

    time is upon us!!

eic nominations are OPEN and I encourage anyone interested to run. you are required to self-nominate through this form by april 16th 11:30 PM.

(masthead hiring will be coming in the next few weeks as well!)

do note, any information you share on the form will be shared with our staff and masthead. the informal campaign period is from april 16th to april 19th, but don’t actually campaign fr. it’s not that serious. there will be a discord channel with staff + masthead for Q&A’s as well as an opportunity reiterate what you bring to the role of eic. voting will happen from april 19th to april 23rd through a secret ballot organized by the cro amareena (me).

masthead will vote for 2 candidates; staff will vote for one. there will also be an option to abstain. the two candidates with the highest votes will be volume 71’s editor-in-chiefs!! if abstentions exceed the amount of votes for the top candidates, or if there’s a tie, a by-election is held within a week. complaints about the election can be formally submitted to the cro (amareena.saleh@mail.utoronto.ca), who may choose to escalate to uc mediator if needed.

we should know the results by april 24th!!
