to contribute

during the fall and winter semesters, the gargoyle publishes 13 issues and holds a production night (roughly) every other thursday at 5pm. at prod, our masthead compiles the paper with the help of contributors, staff, and you! our call for submissions (articles, comics, cover art, etc) is sent out with the issue’s theme two week before prod. we have we have six different sections you can submit to: politics, uc (campus affairs), arts & culture, opinions, avant-garg (poetry & prose), and comics. join our mailing list to get the garg in your inbox!

frequently asked questions

wait, but how do i join the gargoyle?

you don’t need to apply to write, draw, or work with us! just submit or show up to our prod nights – there are plenty of ways to contribute. if you contribute more than three times a year, you join our official staff list. editor(s)-in-chief elections and masthead hiring take place at the end of every volume, look out for more details soon!

do i have to be a uc student to contribute?

no, not at all, all members of our community can contribute regardless of their association with u of t.

can i be anonymous?

yeah, of course! who wouldn’t let you be anonymous (looking at you, varsity). you can be credited as anonymous, you can have a pseudonym, you can be credited just with initials, whatever you want. just specify to your section editor how you would like to be credited and we will make that happen.

i’m gargoyle staff, but what does that mean?

anyone becomes staff after contributing three times, including published articles, comics, collages, all that jazz. after you become staff, you are credited in every issue going forward and on our website. you get to attend editorial meetings, vote in general meetings, vote in the editor-in-chief elections, and get special consideration during masthead hiring. as of vol 71, staff are also included in the FROSH (late summer) issue
